The purpose of the Department of Health, Human and Life Sciences is to prepare students to contribute to a global society and a diverse workforce as productive, responsible, and well-educated research and healthcare professionals and/or graduate students. This is accomplished by providing students with the knowledge and skills basic to the practice of their disciplines, instilling them with the fundamental attitudes of professionalism, teaching, service to the community, and a desire for lifelong learning in a personalized, culturally rich and dynamic learning environment that fosters faculty, staff, and student engagement.
The Department of Health, Human and Life Sciences has a science-based curriculum that provides a broad background for students planning to further their education at the graduate level. The department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and the Bachelor of Science degree emphasizes three primary disciplines: Biology, and Exercise Science-concentrations in Fitness and Wellness and Pre-Athletic Training. These academic offerings carry a competitive matriculation requirement. Minors are available in Psychology and Biology.
