SOW 379 Child Welfare (3) Prerequisites: SOW 210 , SOW 301 , SOW 302 , and SOW 371 This course provides an overview of child welfare services from a historical, theoretical and practice perspective. Various forms of child maltreatment and methods of intervention will be examined. The child welfare system will be reviewed and specific information on North Carolina policies and procedures will be provided. Foster care and adoption will be studied as alternatives when children must be removed from their own families either temporarily or permanently.
