Christian Leadership, MACL

The New Master of Arts in Christian Leadership is an innovative program designed to equip servant leaders for diverse careers and vocations in Christian ministry, the Church, and broader society. As an alternative to the traditional Master of Divinity program, the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership provides an efficient and adaptable program tailored to meet the needs of students from a variety of backgrounds. Whether seeking preparation for careers in pastoral ministry, or missions and scholarship, the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership prepares students for exciting careers and ministries, as well as providing the space for a more in-depth exploration of one’s spiritual and intellectual development. With this degree, students will be able to pursue exciting careers in the Church, faith-based institutions, advocacy, religious publishing, journalism, and significant organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Goodwill, Salvation Army, non-profits, missions, denominational leadership, and philanthropy as well. Conferring of the degree is contingent upon the successful completion of thirty-six (36) semester hours.

Master of Arts in Christian Leadership Degree Requirements

Every candidate for the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership degree is required to complete a total of 36 semester hours of credit. Nine required courses (27 hours) and electives (9 hours) are required to complete the requirements for the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership degree.

Students may take a maximum of three courses on Saturday and may take additional courses during the week. It is strongly recommended that full-time pastors or bi-vocational students who are employed 35 or more hours per week limit their course load to three courses or nine hours per semester. Any decision to do otherwise must be approved by the Dean.

Graduate Requirement

To receive the Master of Arts in Christian Leadership Degree, students must satisfy the following requirements:

  1. Completion of 36 semester hours.
  2. Maintain a cumulative average of 2.0 or better.
  3. Resolution of all Incomplete (“I”) grades.

Completion of the Degree Program

The maximum length of time to complete the degree programs is three years for the MACL. If a student withdraws from a degree program and is later readmitted to that same degree program, the time the student was out of the program does not count towards the time limit. Please note, however, that if a student withdraws and later is readmitted and resumes her/his degree program, only credits that are ten years old or less can be counted towards the degree. Credits that are older than ten years at the time the student resumes the degree will not be counted.
