Students in the program of Interdisciplinary Studies must take four courses (12 credit hours) with the Interdisciplinary Studies faculty, ideally one course each academic year, beginning with the sophomore year:
Students must also take two more courses (6 credit hours) at the 200 level or higher, from one or both of his or her chosen fields.
The remaining courses (18 credit hours) in the program must be at the 300- and 400- levels. With the help of academic advisement from departmental faculty, the student will choose 3 courses (9 credit hours) from each of his or her two declared disciplines. Instructors in these courses are all specialists in the respective disciplines. See departmental checklist for possible combinations of courses in the two chosen disciplines of concentration. Students also take 18 credit hours of free electives.
