Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: All Academic Programs

Exercise Science is the systematic study of the mechanisms underlying human movement exercise, and physical activity. This encompasses aspects from the disciplines of human anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, psychology, motor control and biomechanics. An individual studying exercise science should have a strong interest in applying scientific principles to a variety of human movement, exercise and physical activity settings. The concentration in Fitness and Wellness provides students with the knowledge and skills to enter into the Health and Wellness industry. Specifically, it prepares students for employment in corporate fitness centers, health clubs, sports medicine clinics, cardiac rehabilitation programs, sports training facilities or other programs that require exercise testing and prescription.  It also provides students with the necessary knowledge and background to properly manage this type of facility.  In addition, students must maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout their program of study to remain within and graduate with a degree in Exercise Science.
