SOC 325 Sociology of Law (3) Prerequisites: CRJ 200 and SOC 211 ; Same as CRJ 325 An examination of the place of legal systems within the various social systems from the perspective of social theory. Systems of jurisprudence, both civil and criminal, are scrutinized for their social meaning and used as instruments of social control. The course also examines latent and manifest functions in the administration of justice, the interactions of lawyers, police, prosecutors, and judges, as well as their relations with the public.
