Exercise Science is the systematic study of the mechanisms underlying human movement exercise, and
physical activity. This encompasses aspects from the disciplines of human anatomy, physiology,
neuroscience, psychology, motor control and biomechanics. An individual studying exercise science
should have a strong interest in applying scientific principles to a variety of human movement, exercise
and physical activity settings. The concentration in Pre-Athletic Training provides students with an
overview of the Athletic Training Profession. Students are introduced to concepts such as orthopedic
evaluation, rehabilitation techniques, and taping and bracing principles, which prepare them for Entry-

Occupational Therapy. Students are also prepared for employment in corporate fitness centers, health
clubs, sports medicine clinics, cardiac rehabilitation programs, sports training facilities or other
programs that require exercise testing and prescription. Students are required to maintain a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students are required to earn a C or better in all major required classes.
