Department of Humanities, Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies


Department Purpose

The Department of Humanities, Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies is designed to give students a solid academic foundation encompassing critical thinking, public speaking, writing, and technological skills.  The courses in this  department are designed to encourage students to examine the common issues and themes that run throughout our history, culture, and society, providing a well-rounded, human experience.  Attention is given to theoretical foundations, hands-on application, experiential learning, and the development of media skills.  The division strives to enhance students’ aesthetic and artistic awareness while improving skills in spoken, written and digital formats. 

The Christian Ministries Program aims to enhance the knowledge (cognitivemastery) and skills (pragmatic mastery) of women and men desiring to learn more about the Christian religion or to serve as lay leaders or clergy in the Christian
community. Successful completion core may be used to attain a Bachelor’s of Arts degree.


The major in CHRISTIAN MINISTRY will require students to earn 48 credit hours
in Religion classes. The Christian Ministry major is composed of seven core courses
(21 hours) and nine program electives (27 hours). The 48 total credit hours represent
a combination of courses at level 200 or higher with at least 21 credit hours of the
48 credits level 300 or higher and 6 credits of the 48 credits level 400. To earn credit,
a grade of at least a C must be earned in each course.

A candidate for the Bachelor of Arts degree Interdisciplinary Studies must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours. Total credits include at least 48 credit hours of General Education courses. Additional courses may be required to build fundamental concepts. A candidate must earn the grade of “C” or better in all major courses.
